Laser Skin Resurfacing Can Be Broken Down into Three Main Treatment Options
Non-ablative
This treatment is the least invasive of the three. The non-ablative treatment uses a light-based BBL, or BroadBand Light Laser, to remove surface-level imperfections. This gentle approach provides a subtle yet noticeable improvement over time with little to no downtime between treatments.
Fractionally Ablative
The Halo laser combines non-ablative and fully ablative methods to create small microchannels in a fraction of the skin. This will stimulate collagen production and partially resurface to improve skin tone and texture, fine lines and wrinkles, and deeper pigmentation issues.
Fully Ablative
This treatment shaves down layers of skin for a more uniform appearance. As the skin heals, it will grow back without the previous imperfections. While fully-ablative treatment is the most invasive, it offers the most dramatic and effective results, and often, most patients only need a one-time treatment.

Recovery

For example, those that have a fully-ablative treatment will need longer than those who receive a non-ablative treatment. Fully-ablative procedures are often accompanied by more discomfort and swelling than other treatments. You will be advised against strenuous activity as you heal. For all laser skin resurfacing treatments, your provider will give post-procedure care instructions for you to follow to care for and maintain your results.
