Tired of seeing sagging brows when you look in the mirror? Sagging skin can reduce your youthfulness and make you look older than you are. Don’t let sagging brows and droopy facial skin dictate your life. Consider an endoscopic forehead lift to improve the suppleness and health of your skin.
What Is an Endoscopic Forehead Lift?
A forehead lift is a surgical procedure that is designed to remove unwanted sagging skin and excess fat from the forehead. This lifts sagging eyebrows and removes forehead wrinkles.
In a traditional forehead lift, a single large incision is made and invasive surgical techniques are used. The endoscopic forehead lift, on the other hand, is a minimally invasive procedure that involves the use of an endoscope to conduct the brow and forehead lift.
An endoscope is a small tube-like surgical instrument with a camera mounted on top of it. This instrument can be inserted into tiny incisions to magnify the view of the surgical site, offering greater detail.
The Procedure
In the endoscopic forehead lift, anesthesia is administered and then three to five one-inch incisions are made at the hairline. The endoscope is inserted, and images are transmitted to a monitor.
Dr. Gayoso then performs the forehead lift using minimally invasive instruments. The sagging skin is resected, the excess fat in the region is removed, and the incisions are stitched closed using medical-grade sutures. Temporary fixation screws may be used to lift and hold the brows in their new place; these will be removed a few days after the surgery.
Eligibility Criteria for the Forehead Lift
Any adult who has moderate to severe sagging and wrinkles on the forehead and eyebrow regions is eligible for the endoscopic forehead lift. Patients who are unsuitable for the classic forehead lift can also benefit greatly from this endoscopic procedure.
This surgery is usually recommended along with blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). It may also be performed along with a facelift. Together, these surgeries can significantly rejuvenate the face and make patients look lively, fresh-faced, and youthful.
Healing from the Endoscopic Forehead Lift
During the recovery process, you should avoid bending over or strenuous exercise until cleared by Dr. Gayoso. You may need to take one to two weeks off of work but will be cleared to return to work and exercise as soon as you feel up to it.
You can expect swelling, bruising, and tenderness for the first few days after surgery. Our office will give you instructions on how to minimize bruising and swelling, and you will be provided with pain medications to help ease the discomfort.
The stitches and the dressing used for the procedure are removed a week after the surgery. The fixation screws, if used, are removed two to three weeks after the treatment.
Minor swelling, tenderness, bruising, and pain around the eyebrows and the forehead will be present for a few weeks after the surgery. You must keep your head elevated for two to three days after the treatment. This will reduce the swelling and stimulate blood flow to the area. You can also ice the area after the first week to help bring down the swelling.
