A Number of Mastopexy Techniques Are Available

Apr 10, 2019

Are you experiencing breast sagging? If so, it’s quite likely that you’ll benefit from mastopexy. Also known as a breast lift, mastopexy is a breast surgery performed to lift and enhance the shape of the breasts, making them perkier and more youthful. This procedure can also correct breast asymmetries.

Thanks to advances in medical science, there are now many different techniques that surgeons can use to perform a mastopexy. These techniques differ based on their incision patterns and locations.

The Wise-Pattern Lift

This technique is ideal if you have a high degree of breast sagging that cannot be corrected by other techniques. Dr. Gayoso will make an incision around the areola, a vertical incision down to the breast fold, and another incision in a horizontal curve along the breast fold. This is one of the oldest incision techniques used for a breast-lift surgery.

The Vertical Lift

This technique will suit you if you have a moderate degree of breast sagging. Here, Dr. Gayoso will make an incision around the areola and a vertical incision extending down to the breast fold.

The Periareolar Lift

This technique will suit you if you have a mild to moderate degree of breast sagging. Here, Dr. Gayoso will make an incision around the areola’s perimeter.

The Mastopexy Procedure

Once your mastopexy incisions have been created, the next step is removal of excess skin. Loose sagging skin is what causes the breasts to droop. After the skin has been removed and the tissues of the area have been recontoured, the areolae may be resized as needed to fit the new breast proportions. Finally, stitches are used to close the incisions.

Your Mastopexy Consultation

It is ideal to have an understanding of the different types of breast-lift techniques prior to coming in for a mastopexy. Each technique suits different conditions, and having a clear idea of the details of each technique can help you set realistic expectations. This helps to avoid any disappointment after the procedure.

The best way to learn more is by scheduling an informative consultation with Dr. Gayoso. During this consultation, Dr. Gayoso will discuss the details of mastopexy surgery and the healing process that will be necessary afterwards.

It will be important to discuss your medical history, including any allergies that you may have and any medications or supplements that you are currently taking. This will help to avoid any complications.

You and Dr. Gayoso will discuss your aesthetic goals and needs in regard to mastopexy surgery. He will examine your breasts and then recommend the best course of action to achieve your beauty goals.

If possible, you should also speak to people who have already undergone the procedure. They will be able to give you clear and specific accounts of their experiences with mastopexy surgery.
